Molecular Pathology in Paediatric Tumours

Mark your calendars for the 6th St. Jude – VIVA Paediatric Pathology Symposium on 27 and 28 February 2025. This symposium will be a user’s guide to the exciting world of molecular pathology in relation to paediatric cancer diagnosis. Learn about the principles behind key molecular pathology tests, when and how to order such tests, and how to interpret molecular pathology results.

Who should attend:
This course is designed for pathologists with reporting responsibilities for childhood tumours, who would benefit from an introduction to a range of molecular tests for diagnosis, prognostication, and treatment decisions in patients with paediatric neoplasms. Clinicians involved in the care of patients with childhood tumours such as oncologists, surgeons and paediatricians, and scientists and medical technologists working in molecular pathology laboratories may also find this symposium beneficial. Participants need not have prior knowledge of molecular pathology.

Learning objectives:
After attending this symposium, participants will be able to:

  • Appreciate the range of available molecular tests for childhood tumours, and understand the principles, applications, and limitations of such molecular tests.
  • Judiciously order molecular tests appropriate for a tumour type.
  • Confidently interpret molecular pathology reports.
  • Understand the range of molecular tests essential or helpful for categories of paediatric tumours such as neuroblastomas, sarcomas, brain and other organ-specific tumours.
  • Confidently undertake pre-analytical steps for ordering a molecular pathology test including slide review, block selection and tumour cellularity assessment.
  • Gain a knowledge base of molecular pathology and testing on which to build further knowledge.

If you are unable to attend, you can register to receive a copy of the recording.

Medical professionals in Singapore may be eligible for CME/CNE/CPE credits for attending this webinar, once approved (application pending approval). Credits and Certificates of Attendance will only be issued for those who are able to attend the live session and are in adherence with VIVA's Attendance Policy
